SUMMARY

The Cook employee will perform one or more functions involved with preparation and cooking of large batch foods. Persons in this classification will perform this task in a kitchen environment with the use of commercial kitchen equipment to achieve a finished product.

TASKS

· Perform one or more functions involved with the preparation and cooking of large batches of food, peeling, cutting, weighing, boxing, un-boxing, stacking, wrapping or other function to accomplish tasks.

· Employees must follow company policies.

· Write and record basic information.

· Follow company GMP’s for safe food handling.

· Other duties as assigned by plant management

KNOWLEDGE

  • Food Production — Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and harvesting food products (both plant and animal) for consumption, including storage/handling techniques.
  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Education and Training — Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma required.
  • Previous food processing or food preparation skills preferred.
  • At least 6 months of working in a kitchen is required.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment

Minimal time in cold working environment (approx.. 37F)

Food Safety & Food Security Responsibility
