Operations Manager

Location: GH Foods Houston, TX

Summary

Directs and manages the production operations. Ensures compliance with company procedures and product specifications. Ensures use of machinery, chemicals and tools are used in accordance with company policies. Ensures that production is documented and recorded.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain inventory of raw product and packaging to meet production needs. Rotate stock as required.
  • Ensures that all equipment is in safe and operating status. Ensures that any issues are addressed and corrected in a timely manner.
  • Schedule staff based on production demand.
  • Work with Plant Manager to ensure that production goals are met, including efficiency, hours, costs and safety.
  • Supervise production crews and perform evaluations as necessary.
  • Conduct training and safety meetings as necessary. Conduct disciplinary action as needed
  • Ensure that department is completing paperwork as necessary and in a timely manner.
  • Supervise and ensure that product is ready for scheduled deliveries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Manager
  • Any problems or issues reported to Plant Manager. Issues related to food safety reported to QA Manager as needed.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job will have supervisory responsibility for Production Managers as well as personnel in the production room. Responsibility for efficiency, scheduling and safety of production personnel.

Education/Experience Level, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • High School diploma required.
  • Previous experience in medium scale food production is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Bi-lingual language skills preferred.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

 

Computer Skills:

  • Ability to read computer generated reports preferred.
  • Basic computer skills in Word or Excel.
  • Ability to use e-mail.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Current HACCP certification or documented supervision in food production.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment:

  • Occasional cold working environment (approx. 37F)
  • Physical hazards of working in and about moving machinery.

 

Food Safety & Food Security Responsibilities:

All persons within the company have responsibilities to ensure that threats to the safety and security of our final product are minimized.  Responsibilities for this position include;

  • Compliance with GH Foods’ Good Manufacturing Practices [GMPs]
  • Reporting any unauthorized persons in or about the facility as well as incidents of employee tampering to management.
  • Challenging unauthorized persons; escorting off facility or reporting to proper authorities as deemed necessary. Discipline and/or report to authorities, incidents of employee tampering as necessary.
  • Understanding basic concepts of food borne illness.
  • Ensuring subordinate employees understand basic concepts of food borne illness.
  • Comply with all food labeling requirements as determined by specific job within company.
  • Ensure compliance and enforce all food labeling requirements..
  • Secure outbound and inbound loads are secured as outlined in company policy.
  • Ensure company rules for inbound and outbound shipments are followed.
  • Ensure maintenance procedures and SOPs are followed.
  • Enforce and review all compliance with company maintenance procedures.
  • Perform and record all food safety checks as outlined in company SOPs.
  • Enforce and review all compliance with company food safety procedures.
  • Comply and follow with all sanitation SSOPs to meet requirements.
  • Evaluate and enforce company sanitation procedures
